Wake Up Call: Daily Insights for the Spiritually Curious

Have you ever wondered if there more to life than the daily cycle of work-home-sleep-repeat? Tom Rapsas did and it led him on a spiritual quest. After studying the teachings of Jesus, Buddhism and Hinduism, and devouring self help books and human interest stories, Tom came to the realization that wisdom is not found in a single magical book or from a particular religion or teacher, but rather from many sources. In his book, Wake Up Call: Daily Insights for the Spiritually Curious, offers a compendium of commentaries he’s written over the years inspired by this unending spiritual quest.

In a recent conversation Tom shared some of what he learned.

On looking for more:

There is kind of an internal yearning for something more in life and it can be hard to put your finger on what it is.

On becoming more spiritual:

We get caught up in the rat race and we tend to forget our spiritual nature. When I started to pursue my spiritual side, it was in a compartment. I was still caught up pursing career success, but I had this spiritual gig on the side. It really took years for it to sink in and realize that the things I was pursuing are secondary.

On the benefits:

It helps clear the mind. It helps develop character. It helps set priorities about what’s really important and what’s secondary.

On a higher power:

God really is life and God permeates our life. When are quiet, this Divine Source is everywhere.
